UbuntuNet is built to report on audiences, not to identify people. Reporting is anonymous and aggregated, we do not deploy sensors that identify people, and everything we do is designed to comply with South African law.

POPIA by design

UbuntuNet (Pty) Ltd operates under the Protection of Personal Information Act. Our reporting products are built to collect no personal information. We do not deploy sensors that identify people, and no individual is ever identified.

B-BBEE certified

UbuntuNet holds a valid B-BBEE certificate. Request a copy for your procurement or supplier-verification records through the contact form.

Anonymous and aggregated

Audience data is aggregated and reported as counts and segments in UbuntuInsights. Auditable, and never traceable to a person.

How the reporting stays anonymous

We do not deploy sensors that identify people. Reporting is aggregated before it ever reaches you, so there is no raw feed to expose or misuse, only aggregate figures, surfaced together in UbuntuInsights.

What we report

Estimated reach, audience and dwell reporting from UbuntuVision and UbuntuSense.
Footfall and audience reporting from UbuntuCount.
Only what a visitor voluntarily provides on the UbuntuConnect WiFi portal, such as an email address or a survey answer, and only for the purpose shown at the point of collection.

What we never do

Deploy sensors that identify or classify people.
Identify, name or recognise an individual across visits or sites.
Run interactive tracking on billboards. A billboard is reported for exposure, not for what anyone did.
Sell or share raw personal data.

Your rights and requests

Under POPIA you can ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to its processing. UbuntuNet has appointed an Information Officer to handle these requests, and our access-to-information manual is published in line with Section 51 of the Promotion of Access to Information Act (PAIA).
